When it comes to teaching laboratory courses, graduate students have the option of being hired as:

• 25% FTE, (3 Labs)                                    • 50% FTE, (6 Labs)

Teaching assistants may receive teaching credit equivalent to one laboratory section for activities Such as laboratory development. Undergraduate students may be offered to teach as a TA if requested by ECE Instructor. This structure provides flexibility in staffing and recognizes the diverse roles of both graduate and undergraduate students in the teaching environment.

Note: Graduate students hired at 50% FTE will have their tuition course enrollment costs covered for the semester. Those hired at 25% FTE will have half of their tuition course enrollment costs covered for the semester. Student Health Insurance, international student fees, and dedicated fees such as health services, activity facility grad fees, and graduate council fees are NOT covered.

 

Hourly, paid Twice a Month

Students must be enrolled to serve any of Research Assistant, Teaching Assistants, Technical Assistant hourly positions.

  • 20 Hours a week is the max allowable for these appointments, unless their academic advisor approves additional hours. (for resident students ONLY).
  • International students are Only allowed up to 20 hours a week, no exceptions.
  • Graduate students may work hourly positions but must have CEC Dean’s approval.
  • Students can work more than one appointment concurrently, if they stay within allowable hours.
