Student Requirements:  

 

  1. All must be enrolled full-time before requested funding will be entered for that semester. (FS/SP=9 credits & SS=3 credits). 
  1. Exceptions to Rule:
    • More than 9 credit hours
      •  student’s responsible to cover all charges above and beyond the II-26 coverage. 
      •   Resident tuition rate; $750 per credit hour.
      •   Advisors need to notify Department if they wish to cover additional credit hours for the student.
    • Less than 9 hours:   
      • Reduced Enrollment Request form must be submitted & approved, (form available in the International Admission Office) OR if it is the student’s semester to graduate, student needs to submit updated Form 1 to the Graduate Education office to obtain “one credit eligible” milestone approval added to their degree audit. 
  1. After submission must be added to degree audit before tuition waiver can be processed. New students to ECE graduate degree programs must submit:
    1. Employment application
    2. Training Acknowledgement Form

       3. Graduate Teaching Assistants must pass the GTA Workshop prior to teaching. (The workshop is held three times per year; January, May, and August)

Note: If they are from a country where English is not the primary language, they are required to provide English proficiency prior to attending the workshop. Graduate students who are required to provide English proficiency are not allowed to teach in their first semester at S&T.

    • In October (Fall Semester) or March (Spring Semester) graduate student are contacted via email regarding their interest in attending the GTA workshop. An application form for the workshop can be found here.
    • attendance at the workshop is limited so not all applicants may be offered a position in the workshop.
    • In November (Fall Semester) or April (Spring Semester) graduate students are contacted via email to apply for the following semester’s TA positions. An application form can be found at here:

Initial offers are generally made shortly after the end of the semester once grades have been recorded to assure that the applicants are in good academic standing.

                         

Note: Students can work either a GRA (Graduate Research Assistant), or GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant), they may also if given the opportunity work both a GRA and GTA simultaneously also.
